Flash Fiction Friday 10-8-10: "The Anointing"

(Source image: "Chaotic Art 2" by Kaji)

She closed her eyes, floating in darkness, awaiting her anointing. Goosebumps seethed on her naked body. Faintly, she heard murmurs, benedictions in Latin. She felt them all around, moving closer. The voices rose to a climax, and one spoke: “Now.”

Taking hold of her salvation, she began stroking, slowly, firmly. She gasped as warmth splashed her upturned face and breasts. Sighing, she bathed in glory.

Finally, she felt a finger, drawing a cross on her cum-splattered forehead.

"Go, my child, and sin no more," she heard.

Your challenge for today was to use the picture above and write a flash fiction of 60-90 words. Additionally, I provided a key phrase I wanted to see used somewhere in the submission:

"...taking hold..."

Nobody's checking word counts, or for the key phrase, but you're only cheating yourself if you break the rules. Unless you're doing it to earn a spanking (in which case, see me after class).

Special Bonus Director's Commentary Track:

Maybe I *am* asking to be struck by lightning, but as an atheist, I don't really give a damn. When first I saw this particular piece of artwork, I was taken by the expression on her face. It wasn't a look of disgust, or of boredom like you so often see in facial shots in porn films. It wasn't even just a look of pleasure or expectant happiness; no, instead it seemed to me to be a look almost of exaltation.

Then I got thinking about what people consider sacred, and suddenly there it was: an idea for an order of monks who washed away the sins of others with their semen. I could even see them in my head, chanting Latin phrases, dressed in black robes open at the front, stroking themselves towards orgasm as the penitent knelt in the center of their ring. The idea was so perfectly hilarious that I just couldn't resist writing it up. I imagined a girl who had committed some imagined sins, perhaps of lust, perhaps far beyond that, and what she might do if she had the opportunity to be bathed in salvation. I wondered how she might feel, knowing that her sins were to be washed clean. A different sort of salvation, to be sure, but who's to say the act of receiving someone's cum might not be almost sacred to the right people?

Or maybe I just wanted to do a wholly different take on the usual facial cumshot thing. You decide.

The following people are participating this week. Go check out their take on this FFF, won't you, and thank 'em for playing along.

Blasphemous, to be sure, but well executed. I thought the line "Goosebumps seethed on her naked body." was particularly good imagery. Happy Friday!

This was so very clever. I do love those "come to Jesus" moments involved with cock!

Dioneo: Happy Friday to you as well. Glad you liked my approach. Lukewarm response so far.

Drench: Get lots of those, do you? :) Happy this was to your taste. Happy Friday to you!

Yeah... I like yours far better than mine xD

Really great imagery. You did a lot with so few words.

Happy FFF!

Soren: Thank you, sir! I much prefer longer word lengths because I do tend to run on and on a lot of the time, but if I really push myself I can manage the shorter lengths. I'm glad you liked it.

Boy, if Ash Wednesday were really like this, I would have enjoyed being a forced Catholic a lot more when I was younger. It does beg the question though; if this is Ash Wednesday, how would one celebrate Palm Sunday? ;)

Ooh, you dirty sod. I loved everything about this, which means I might be a dirty sod right along with you...

I sort of had the same reaction once I really looked at the pic: I liked it at first, but then I just thought she wasn't enjoying herself.

Dirty boy! ;)

(loved it!!!)

Allow me to be the thorn in your side then.
That one did leave a bitter aftertaste in my mouth as well as eerie goose bumps on my skin. As a Christian (to be general) I do give a damn. :)
But not in the ‘oh my gosh you mentioned sex and religion in the same breath, you must burn in Hell! For shame!’ – I’m not offended like that.
But sure enough before I read your commentary (and I’m glad you actually did provide one for this) it was based off why I felt the hairs prickle on my skin when I finished reading.
It reminded me of those cults, the ‘secret upper class’ ones who cover orgies and other acts of debasement (or even crime) under the cloak of ‘worshipping Jesus’ and ‘doing good’, or the other cultures I’ve seen documented about within America’s bible belt who sexually abuse minors, kidnap, blackmail and much more under the pretence of being a ‘family’ and ‘child of God’, etc.
The hypocrisy makes me see red, not to mention it scares the hell outta me cause they’re borderline manic.
(And the ‘bible bashers’ as I dub them makes things worse for the rest of us, naturally)
So yeah, I read the last few lines of your story and those cults which have very little to do with following the nature and basic belief of Christianity (or others), came to mind and I frowned, that one hit a sore spot.

The interesting thing with how it inspired you however was amusing, as it wasn’t too far off my own idea. I saw it and I thought of the Aztec gods or Tiki gods. Of a young girl being sent off to be sacrificed to save the village (as one does) and dropped in a cave.
Being surrounded by statues with already erect penises carved out, she decides if she’s gonna die, she may as well have fun and so starts stroking. But lo and behold, stone turns to flesh (for that part) and the gods release on her, thank her and bless the village.
And she gets to stay with them since she’s meant to have died. :p

Something funny came to me too when I saw the image for FFF, but if I was taking a religious/supernatural route, it’d probably have been one that celebrates fertility like the Japanese do with Shinto and their penis shrines and festivals over here or as I just described.

To me, to use those cults as a story would be for a similar reason for why you posted that radio story. Others may laugh and find it funny when they listen in to the radio but to you, it struck a chord and you wanted to let your emotional reaction known via your story. It sure enough got my attention, I wasn’t smiling much by the end of that too cause I could sense that you wanted to make a serious point with it.

So yeah, the rise of the internet in the last decade and issues with religion are forever a tricky minefield to navigate on.
On one hand you get those easily offended at a comic strip and protest and riot cause it truly hurt and offended them, on the other side you have the rest of us hiding cause to mention that it hurt and offended is to risk being mocked and belittled by the atheists who ‘don’t give a damn’. Having spent time with the 18-25 age group online in the last decade, I can’t help but feel that it’s turned into a 21st C Rome when Christians were thrown to the lions and had to practice/believe in secret.
To be exposed is to be persecuted in some form; things have definitely become a lot harder now.

Given what’s happening in the world this last decade, on a general note I sometimes think, ‘if atheists would extend a little sensitivity and refrain from mocking what they don’t believe in, knowing it risks hurting and causing more harm than good, as well as bible bashers laying off from judging others, sabotaging funerals and trying to forcibly convert people only to upset them, wouldn’t we all get on in this world just a little more better?

(... cont)
I cap it there, although I’ve probably opened quite a few cans of worms to the rest of you. To try to tie it back to creative works, I do hear the argument of ‘free speech, expression and creativity to write what we like’, which is true but one should take some responsibility with that in relation to their audience or purpose. On the other hand sticking with ‘free speech’ then as one of the minority who didn’t see eye-to-eye in this case and didn’t want to remain in bitter silence, I’m expressing my views as well.
Also wanted to wave a little just to remind you PB that you have fans from various faiths, races, locations, ages and genders and to poke at a sensitive topic may get you some “negative” feedback. :)
Thus be my two pence for you.

Note to PB:
*facepalms*
When I hit 'post', I got an error message that it was too large, so I took parts out and refreshed, but it actually posted on your comment form, despite that error message. So the last two are duplicates to delete.
I need to make a note to ignore it next time since I keep on getting caught by it, apologies.

Minx: Hell, haven't you known that about me (and yourself) for long enough that it shouldn't even be a surprise anymore? I'm glad you loved it.

Spring Flower: I'm confused -- you liked it at first, but then thought she WASN'T enjoying herself? That's not at all the reaction I had. It seemed to me she was uplifted and made transcendent by what she was experiencing. But...then you said you loved it. I guess that's good. :)

Mystique: Thanks for your thoughtful comments. I do want to point out that I think you've misinterpreted my overall intent here. I don't mean to poke fun at religion of any kind. My point here was to show a scene that was truly sacred for all involved, an uplifting experience that was holy and benificent and pleasing for everyone. There was no abuse here, only a willing participation in an ancient ritual. Maybe it's a strange religion, but no stranger than many I've seen or heard of.

I'm not religious, but I don't object to those who are. As long as people of any religion leave others in peace, I feel anyone should have the right to worship (or not worship) in peace themselves. Do what you want with you and yours, just leave me and mine alone. Goes for all religions and all faiths. Or lack of them. Whatever gets you through the night. :) Tolerance and respect are the order of the day.

Thanks again for chiming in.

Lexi: I just realized I somehow managed to omit replying to you. Sorry about that, particularly since your comment made me snort a drink through my nose when I read it. Maybe we should come up with our own Palm Sunday celebration ritual!
